AOC rejected by Democratic Party for leadership role. 84 year old Nancy Pelosi led the opposition against AOC from a hospital bed with broken hip. Beaten by some fossil, whose own allies say "Gerry's a young 74, cancer notwithstanding." I wish I were making some of this up. : WorkReform

As a leader, what are the most important things you do for your team?

Main Post:

Was running through this thought exercise in some weekly think time, jotting down the most important things I think I do at a high level. Here are some of the things I had down. What are yours?

  • Know company's mission, department's sub-mission, and how my team's work aligns, fits, and contributes to both.
  • Take the weight off the team as far as organizing, arranging, creating team preparedness, and company instability or politics may go. Be a stabilizing force.
  • Ask questions and seek input when making decisions. Create a space where people feel like they either A) Helped make the decision or B) Helped consult in the decision, even if it wasn't ultimately what they wanted.
  • Share knowledge across teams, groups, individuals. As a leader I attend more meetings and see other things in the company more than employees. Bringing those learnings back is key. On teams I've managed, we have several people who may work differently (either in style or in function), and being curious about how they find their success has allowed me to share what one person does well and bring that skill to another person.
  • Make scoreboards (KPIs) clear and gamified whenever possible.
    • Another thing I think leaders should do is swallow the defeat wholly when we don't hit the target, but deflect praise to the team when you do hit it. Let employees feel the thrill of the win, but not necessarily the agony of defeat. That doesn't mean don't involve them in solving problems, but guard them from the negatives.

I am a shit umbrella.

I shield the team from politics, clear red tape, and protect their zone of productivity

How hard is the Online Capstone for ED.D Educational Leadership?

Main Post:

Are there any current students or alumni that can give me more insight on the capstone project for ED.D Educational Leadership? Is it something you work on as a group? Individual? What did it consist of?

Top Comment:

You mean the Dissertation? It's written individually and is the long research paper typically associated with Doctorate's and Dissertations. Correct me if I'm wrong.

George Russell says F1 drivers 'fed up' with FIA leadership

Main Post: George Russell says F1 drivers 'fed up' with FIA leadership

Top Comment:

Russell made it clear he was referring specifically to the leadership of the FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem.

He said it was “not difficult” to have a meeting with Ben Sulayem, but "having promises fulfilled is another matter".

That is unsurprising.
